Indulge in culture at the old town "Ayutthaya"

Ayutthaya, is the ancient capital city of the greatest and most prosperous of Siam around 417 years, even though the Ayutthaya kingdom collapsed but remains of cultural traces for us. Ayutthaya still have the way of life of the old city that continues until now. Ayutthaya is an important destination from people all over the world who come to study history art, beauty of the world heritage and local culture.

Wat Mahathat

Wat Mahathat, one of the most important temples of Ayutthaya is a royal temple and used to be the residence of His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch. Wat Mahathat is a center and a venue for royal ceremonies of Ayutthaya royal family.

If we talking about the image of Wat Mahathat, we see that Head of Buddha statue over a hundred years in the roots, and other interesting is the large pagoda is like Phra Meru Mountain. Octagon pagoda with a medium sized Phra Prang and Vihara that is surrounded throughout the area.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet

One of the important temples because it was a former royal temple in the palace that had no Buddhist monks. Wat Phra Si Sanphet used to perform important royal ceremonies. Outstanding with three beautifully Spherical Pagoda Shape With Glass Lotus Base.

Wat Yai Chaimongkol

Wat Yai Chai Mongkol or Wat Pa Kaew is an important temple in the history of the Ayutthaya period. With beautiful and outstanding architecture there is the highest pagoda in Ayutthaya.

The Chaimongkol pagoda is a memorial to a great victory. That King Naresuan the Great fought to win behind the palace is King Naresuan the Great monument to pay obeisance. 

Wat Chai Watthanaram

The old temple built since the late Ayutthaya period. King Prasat Thong was built to dedicate merit to his mother who died before his royal coronation ceremony. And another meaning is to build a memorial to the victory over Cambodia. Some architecture has a model from Angkor Wat.

Wat Lokayasutharam

Wat Lokayasutharam or Phra Non Temple this temple has the largest reclining Buddha of Ayutthaya, with a length of 42 meters and a height of 8 meters. 

His face was turned to the north. Which the head had lotus flowers to support is stacked at a right angle. Equal length fingers with lotus petals overlapping his head instead of the pillow Around the Buddha there is an octagon in 24 brick pillars. It is believed that originally a temple was built to cover the Lord Buddha.

Wat Ratchaburana

One of the largest and oldest temples in Ayutthaya. There is still a treasure that had been stolen but when the official found it, there are still many treasures more than 2,000 items such as over a hundred thousand Buddha prints, and gold weighing over 100 kilograms. Currently, the treasure kept at the Fine Arts Department.

The repository has a depth of 3 layers, arranged from the top to the bottom. The first floor is filled with Buddha prints and Buddha statue. The second floor consists of 3 gold trays filled with gold ornaments when demolished. The 3rd floor of the repository on the farthest side contains relics in a golden pagoda that is preserved well.

6. Phra Mongkhon Bophit

Old temple in the city walls. That has been restored as well inside the chapel, there is a large, rebuilt president of the large Buddha statue, covered with gold and bronze. Allowing us to still see the most complete picture of the ancient temple to date.

Wat Phra Ram

It is a temple located outside the grand royal palace opposite Phra Mongkhon Bophit Temple, In front of the temple, there is a Bung Rama, formerly known as Bueng Chi Khan or Nong Sano.

Wat Thammikarat

In the past it was a royal temple next to an old palace. Wat Phra Sri Sanphet there is a prominent feature is a temple where the head of the Tummickarat is found, which is the largest Buddha head. 

Another important point is a circular pagoda surrounded by a lion statue. Originally, there were as many as 52 singles. Currently, only 20 have been counted. It is the only lion pagoda in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.

Wat Putthai Sawan

It is one of the largest and famous royal temples in Ayutthaya. It is an important place to perform various rituals in many eras. It is a temple that is located by the Chao Phraya River the beauty of Wat Phutthaisawan is striking with the Phra Mahathat or the White Prang.
