The lists of supporting documents to apply for a report the birth of a child if a father or mother is a foreigner as follow;

• Passport and a copy

A foreign father or mother must bring the passport to be certified at their embassy in the country to certify that the passport is issued by that country. Then, translate the certified documents from the embassy into Thai and certified true copy from the accredited translation center. Then, bring the translated document to legalized at the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Finally, send the legalization documents to the district.

The steps to certify a Passport as follows;

1. Take the passport to certify at the embassy in the country of their nationality
2. Translate the certified documents from the embassy into Thai and certified true copy from the accredited translation center
3. Bring the translated document to legalized at the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The steps to register a child certificate for foreigners

1. Register a child certificate at the register office

Children born of unmarried parents are the legitimate children of the mother. If want to be a legitimate child of his father, the father must register a child certification with the mother and the child giving consent at any district office.

Required documents

1. Identity card and passport that certified by the embassy if father or mother is a foreigner
2. House registration of Head of Household and relevant person
3. Birth Certificate
4. Two witnesses
5. Parents and children have to sign by themselves. If the child is an innocent and cannot write their name, the registration of child certification must have a judgment of the court.

2.  Register a child certificate outside the register office

Father can request to the registrar for the registration of child certification outside the district office. However, the place of registration must be in the locality of that district office.

Required documents

1. Identity card of relevant person and passport that certified by the embassy if father or mother is a foreigner
2. House registration of Head of Household and relevant person
3. Birth Certificate
4. Two witnesses
5. Parents and children have to sign by themselves. If the child is an innocent and cannot write their name, the registration of child certification must have a judgment of the court.
