How to apply for a driving license for foreigners??

For all foreigners who want to rent or buy a car in Thailand but still do not have an international driving license or driving license in Thailand, must apply for a driver's license at the Department of Transport before driving a car in Thailand. Qualifications for those applying for a driving license.

Be at least 18 years of age
Not being physically impaired such as blindness, color blindness or deafness

The documents required for driving license

Passport with Non-Immigration Visa, use instead of ID card, with a copy.
Certificate of residence permit in Thailand from an embassy or government agency, use instead of a copy of house registration or residence certificate, with housing photos.
Medical Certificate showing that the applicant for a driver's license does not have a medical condition that can be dangerous while driving, and is not a person of insane or mental disorder (not more than 1 month).

However, foreigners who has an international driving license do not need to apply for a driving license in Thailand. You can drive a car right away.

Procedure to apply for driving license

Submit the application with the required documents
Color blindness test
Take a training for 2 hours about land transport law, motor vehicle law and road safety
Color blindness test by reading the color sheet in the test kit
Take a theory test about the regulations of the transportation
Driving test
Pay the fee. Pay a driving license fee and receive a driving license

What kind of driving-license is eligible for the written and driving test exemption?

Those who have a valid driving license under the land transport law, with a copy
Those who have a driving license under the military vehicle law
Those who have a driving license under international law for private vehicle or motorcycles
Those who have a valid driving license under international law

However, the driver's license from abroad must translate into English or translated into Thai with certification of translations by the embassy of the country that issued the license.
